Question 1 of 1
1. Question
A gardener is planning to create a shrubbery consisting of 10 plants—trees; A, B, C, D, and E and no others—and shrubs; V, W, X, Y, and Z and no others. Areas one, two, and three will each house either 3 or four plants, and are the only areas into which the plants will go. Each area must hold at least one of each type of plant—trees, and shrubs—but cannot have an equal number of trees and shrubs. Placement of the plants is consistent with the following rules.
A and E must be in the same area.
W and Z cannot be in the same area.
If an area houses three trees it can house neither B nor D.
An area cannot house X if it houses W or Z.
Neither E nor W are housed in area one.
If B, C, and D are in areas one, two, and three respectively, each of the following pairs could be in the same area as each other EXCEPT:

- B) A and Z –Jump to portal #15
- C) B and Y –Jump to portal #12
- D) C and W –Jump to portal #5
- E) D and V –Jump to portal #13
